AHC Gives Local Families a Holiday to Remember

(High Point, NC, December 26, 2008) Advanced Home Care employees worked together this holiday season by donating over $8,000 in an effort to give 19 local Triad families a brighter Christmas. Employees raised the money by purchasing raffle tickets for 22 different gift baskets that were arranged and donated by various departments within the organization. The company also raised funds by giving employees the option to purchase casual badges, which allow workers to bypass the normal business dress code and wear blue jeans and sneakers for a month.
Each year, Advanced Home Care coordinates this "Families in Need" project, in which they identify patients whose family is in need of financial assistance. Employees can nominate patients who they believe should be adopted for the "Families in Need" project and an internal committee coordinates the assistance that these families will receive. The company used funds that were raised through the casual badge sale and gift basket raffle to pay off outstanding bills and to purchase medications, food, and gifts for the families, which were delivered to their homes the week before Christmas.
The mother of one of the assisted families had the following to say in a letter she sent to the organization the day after Christmas: "We could never have imagined the great kindness that our family received from Advanced Home Care. I was truly overwhelmed. Because of your kindness, our family had the best Christmas we have had since moving to this area. I can't even put into words what this means to us. God bless you all."
