16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Advanced Home Care hosted its 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser on September 16, 2009 at the Champion's Course at Bryan Park in Greensboro, NC. An impressive $50,000 was raised at the event, making it Advanced Home Care's most successful charity tournament to date. Pictured below (from left to right), Matt Frohna, Senior Director of Regional Development, and Joel Mills, CEO, presenting a check on behalf of Advanced Home Care to Paula Vincent, Presbyterian Healthcare's Senior Vice-President and Chief Nursing Officer, and Mark Billings, President of Presbyterian Healthcare.

It was a rainy, overcast day, but that didn't stop 98 players from 59 different companies from participating in the tournament at varying sponsorship levels. Most participants and tournament sponsors were suppliers, partners, or vendors of Advanced Home Care. The organization's CEO, Joel Mills, said, "I'm very proud that we were able to work together with members of our community and partners of Advanced Home Care to help the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser. I look forward to 2010 for another successful year!"

All monies will be donated directly to the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser, located in Charlotte, NC. Presbyterian Healthcare - owned by Novant Health - is a regional health care system, whose home care division merged with Advanced Home Care in March of 2005, along with 3 other home care providers. This merger positioned Advanced Home Care as the largest home health agency in the state of North Carolina.

About the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser

The Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser is a 40-foot recreational vehicle that serves as a doctor's office and provides comprehensive primary and preventative medical care to youth who cannot afford it. A medical director, pediatric nurse practitioner, nursing staff, and social worker lead the cruiser and it visits identified underserved areas of the community to offer the following pediatric practices:

  • Developmental screening
  • Primary Care
  • Immunizations
  • Initial prenatal care
  • Disease diagnosis
  • Preventative education
  • Asthma prevention and treatment
  • Community resource referrals

The Cruiser creates a win-win situation for the entire community by decreasing non-reimbursed costs and unnecessary ER visits by improving the health of our youth.
