AHC Nurse Makes Top 100 in NC
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 9.14.09
(High Point, NC, September 14, 2009) The Great 100 of North Carolina, a grassroots peer recognition organization, will honor the state's top 100 nurses at a celebratory gala in Greensboro, NC on October 3, 2009. Melody Austin, Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN), with Advanced Home Care, made the distinguished rank.
Nurses from organizations across the state were selected for their dedication and commitment to the nursing industry. The fact that Austin made the 2009 list is of particular note because she was the only nurse in the Great 100 for 2009 from a home health agency.
Melody Austin, CWOCN, receives this honor in her 14th year as a Registered Nurse. She began her career with Advanced Home Care as a Field Nurse in 1999, and was quickly promoted to a branch operations position in 2000. Austin later became an educator for Advanced Home Care, and for the past two years has served the organization as a Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse. She brings her desire to promote nursing to the community by serving as a resource in local hospice programs and with area Medlink nurses. Melody is well known as a knowledgeable, friendly, and resourceful WOC nurse, not just within Advanced Home Care, but also for the five NC counties in which she works.
Austin has continued to promote nursing in a non-traditional capacity by holding both managerial and educational roles in her career; her skill and expertise bring credibility to these roles in operations and training. She also joins the ranks of previous Great 100 recipients from Advanced Home Care - most recently Pam Chandler, Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader, who was honored in 2008; Linda Causey, Employee Health Nurse, and Georgene Lorusso, Clinical Home Care Specialist, in 2007; Patricia Moore, Home Health Educator, in 2006; Kim Self, Admission Nurse, in 2000; and Laurie McNichol, Director of Home Health Practice and Quality, in 1996.
