Occupational Therapy

At Advanced Home Care, our goal is to help patients regain the highest level of functionality and independence possible. Borne from the physical therapy profession, occupational therapy is geared towards helping patients better perform the activities of daily living, such as:

  • Using the bathroom
  • Opening doors
  • Eating
  • Bathing
  • Dressing oneself
  • Light housework
  • Preparing meals
  • Taking medication

Our program begins with an individualized evaluation to determine each patient’s specific needs. Then, in conjunction with the patient’s physician, our occupational therapists create a personalized plan of care designed to restore the patient to a maximum level of independence in the activities of daily living. A safety and functionality assessment is also performed at the patient’s home to make sure it best meets his or her rehabilitation goals. Finally, our occupational therapists can also teach energy conservation to patients with chronic diseases, such as Congestive Heart Failure, helping to improve their quality of life.
