AHC Employee Certified as Nutrition Support Pharmacist
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 12.11.07
(High Point, NC, December 11, 2007) Debbie Houston, Clinical Program Coordinator for Advanced Home Care, received certification as a Nutrition Support Pharmacist from the Board of Pharmacy this week. Debbie joins an elite group of only seven individuals, out of over 11,000 licensed pharmacists in the state of North Carolina, with this specialty certification.
Debbie has worked as a Clinical Program Coordinator for Advanced Home Care's Pharmacy and Infusion services since 2005. This past October, she took the exam to become certified in Nutrition Support. Of the seven people in North Carolina with this certification, Debbie is one of only two home health pharmacists with this credential, which makes it particularly unique.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Pharmacy, Debbie began her career as a staff pharmacist for Moses Cone Health System. She has held many different positions over the years, from Infection Control Coordinator to Director of Pharmacy. In addition to this most recent certification, Debbie is Board certified in Infection Control and Healthcare Epidemiology, and is currently working on her doctoral degree in Pharmacy. She expects to complete the program in 2008.
With nearly 30 years in the pharmacy industry, Debbie serves on Advanced Home Care's Medical Advisory Board, is an active member and past president of the Guilford County Society of Pharmacists, as well as several other health care related committees and associations. Janice Wilhelm, Vice President of Specialty Clinical Services for Advanced Home Care, had the following to say about Ms. Houston, "Debbie is our resident clinical expert, positively impacting both our patient outcomes and our entire pharmacy staff across the organization. Her commitment to Advanced Home Care and the industry has made a significant difference in the lives of thousands of patients."
